Acupuncture and Remedial Massage
Acupuncture is very useful as an adjunct to remedial massage treatments. Where remedial massage is a powerful treatment for releasing muscle tension and improving muscle nutrition and health, acupuncture reinforces the physical benefit by harmonising imbalances deeper in the system that left untreated can often give way to recurrence of tension. Sometimes, and often surprisingly, the digestive system plays an important role in muscle health. If our digestive organs are not functioning optimally, our body is deprived of maximum nutrients to send to the muscles and tendons for their development and repair. Diagnostic tools used by the acupuncturist will assess digestive health, among other things, and acupuncture treatment will be adapted to align these remote yet interrelated systems.
Pregnancy
Jennifer has a special interest in fertility and pregnancy. Acupuncture and herbal medicine are potent, natural approaches to enhancing fertility, supporting pregnancy and even promoting labor. Many women will experience some discomfort during pregnancy, with all the hormonal and physical changes that the body faces- things like morning sickness, lower back pain, restless legs and sleeplessness. The chemical-free, self regulating nature of acupuncture is ideal during pregnancy, a time when women are more than ever looking for toxin free health solutions. Even if the mother is herself symptom free during pregnancy, acupuncture can be used to enhance the growth of the baby, facilitating nutritional pathways, and preparing the mother's body for childbirth (cervical ripening).
Fertility
Acupuncture is also used to establish solid hormonal patterns for women who are looking to fall Pregnant, to bring both women and men into fertile states.
Facial rejuvenation
Jennifer also practices Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture (FRA). This acupuncture treatment is a 90minute structure, incorporating an holistic body treatment and a specialised facial procedure. FRA enhances natural beauty, re-energises the muscles and tissues of the face, deconstructs fine lines and wrinkles and prevents visible ageing. FRA is a chemical free treatment, using natural essential oils to reinforce collagen regeneration. It looks at treating the underlying causes of visible ageing while manually awakening the face muscles and circulation. Although the idea of facial acupuncture is not immediately appealing, the treatment is beautifully sequenced and deeply relaxing, and the visible results are the real reward!
Sport and sport injuries
Acupuncture works wonders for people who regularly exercise or are in training for specific athletic events. Energy balancing methods are used to efficiently eliminate lactic acid pooling from hard sessions, to soothe wearied muscles and soften stretched tendons and ligaments. Common injuries like shin splints, calf strain, hernia and muscle spasm respond well to the anti-inflammatory effect of acupuncture. If certain muscle groups are used excessively during training it may become difficult for the group to 'switch off' post-training, hard to stretch out and uncomfortable. Acupuncture can literally instruct the body to relax, turn itself down and recover, shifting the polarity from flight mode to much needed down time.
Cupping
Cupping therapy is becoming increasingly popular throughout the clientele at the float centre, with both Jennifer and Toni-Lee offering cupping treatments. Glass cups are used to create a vacuum suction pressure on muscles and acu-points. Toxins within the muscles are drawn to the surface for lymphatic elimination. Adhesions from repetitive use or past trauma can be dissipated, allowing greater range of motion and pain relief. Cupping circulates fresh blood through tired muscles, oxygenates and hydrates.
